Dear LW Supporters and Friends
I’m hope this finds you all well and that you’ve
enjoyed the recent high summer weather!
As you may have already seen on Haringey online, Haringey Council has not agreed to extend Wightman Road’s current filtered closure until the recommended final proposals from the Green Lanes Transport Study are known in December. As such Wightman Road is due to reopen on Monday 5 September.
We’re of course very disappointed that Haringey Council hasn't capitalised on changes to driving behaviour and a proportion of disappearing traffic or chosen to prioritise the much needed improvements to Health and Wellbeing across Wightman Road/The Ladder.
However, Living Wightman has been invited onto the Steering Group of the Green Lanes Transport Study (alongside resident organisations from the Ladder, Wightman Road, the Gardens, Hermitage Road and Woodlands Park) and we will continue to push for a drastically reduced level of traffic on Wightman Road and to argue the quality of life, health/well being and community cohesion issues for Wightman and Ladder residents.
This is only the beginning!!
